Wearable AI Pin – Innovation or Threat to Privacy?
by Anna Versai
Artificial Intelligence has been taking over the technology industry for the last few years and emerging as a main character.
Wearable companies are in a rush to be ahead of others. While OpenAI is rumored to be working on a hearable product to rival AirPods, Apple is expected to develop its first AI pin featuring a camera, microphones, and speakers.
As per recent reports, the iPhone maker is planning to redevelop Siri as a ChatGPT chatbot rival. Apple’s move suggests that the company is leaving no chances for others to shine in AI wearable technology.
However, the wearable AI pin is still in the brainstorming stage and may not see the light of the future.
Everything We Know About Wearable AI Pin
The rumors suggest that Apple’s AI pin will physically be thicker than Airtags with a circular outer body. It will have an exterior of aluminium and strong glass.
This portable AI pin will feature two cameras, including wide angle and a standard, three microphones, one speaker, and one power button at the edge.
The device will have wireless charging similar to other Apple products with magnetic induction. Although there are no hints whether the device will be an independent product or will rely on smartphones or smartwatches.
Is It Apple Vs OpenAI?
A few days ago, OpenAI’s Chief Global Officer announced that the company will soon be launching its first AI hardware device. With the announcement, the hardware market is heating up with curiosity and competition.
Now, we have rumors that suggest Apple is also developing an AI pin, its first completely AI-based device.
While both companies have created a fair share of buzz, users remain confused about the usage and quality of upcoming devices.
Is AI Pin Threat to Privacy?
For decades, Apple has claimed to be the best at creating secure and safe devices focused on the privacy concerns of its users.
But the question is, will AI pin comply with the company’s standards? AI pin features a camera, microphones, and speakers to capture and record components of its surroundings.
Either users will be asking for consent from everyone present in their surroundings, or Apple is ready to violate the privacy of its users and any other person in their range.
Well, it will be great to see Apple develop an AI wearable technology that can adhere to the company’s standards.
